Gentle Skin turns one!

This month, Gentle Skin officially turned one.

Over the past year, just over 4,000 products have found their way into homes across the UK. When you break that down, it’s almost hard to believe!

That’s around 1,000 kilograms of colloidal oats, roughly one tonne. It’s the equivalent of tens of thousands of baths taken by people looking for a gentler way to care for their skin.

For something that started with late-night research and a lot of trial and error, I'm pretty buzzing! So before anything else, thank you.

In case we haven’t properly met — Shwmae, I’m Kyle (and if you haven't guessed, I’m Welsh).

I started Gentle Skin after developing eczema at 18. For years, it felt like the bane of my existence. I tried everything. I relied on strong steroid creams, and eventually had to relearn what my skin actually needed and how to repair the damage to my skin barrier.

Ten years later, I’m not claiming to have “cured” anything (because there isn’t a cure). But I do understand how frustrating and isolating it can feel to have a chronic skin condition, especially when most of what’s available feels clinical, harsh, or full of ingredients you can’t pronounce.

I make simple, fragrance-free bath soaks designed for sensitive, dry and eczema-prone skin. No harsh ingredients. No dramatic claims. Just minimal formulas that support the skin barrier and feel good to use.

This first year has been a steep learning curve. I’ve been running this around a full-time job, which means a lot of late nights researching, packing orders, (sometimes) procrastinating, and refreshing the website stats to see how many people visited in the last 24 hours.

But it’s also been really exciting! Building something independent, learning what it actually takes to run a cosmetic brand in the UK. And most of all, reading your reviews. Hearing that a bath soak helped even a little bit, especially for a child, makes it all worth it.

Looking ahead, I’ve got big plans for the next few years, expanding the range thoughtfully, without losing what makes Gentle Skin different. It’s still small. Still independent. Still focused on doing one thing well: creating simple, considered products for sensitive skin.
